The thought behind the design for the stairs and rail is for the stair system to be floating. The double stringer was kept as close to center as possible
to allow the treads to float as munch as the engineering would allow. The railing has 10" cantilevered ends.
The foot plates are a .25" round that is mortised into the floor and stair treads.
